Grizzly

An Alaskan grizzly feeding on salmon

Gulls

What can I say, 2 gulls

Backyard Trees

A late winter/early spring view of the my backyard sans new homes in the background.

Stone Bridge

Colors used: Ultramarine Blue, Raw Umber, Naples Yellow and White

Rural Gas Station

This one took longer than I wanted. I got caught up in some of the details but had fun anyway.

Route 66 Gas Station

This is my first painting on masonite (panelboard) It's the stuff you can draw on with erasable markers. After lightly sanding it's ready to go. The photo is from Creative Commons Flickr.

Street Scene 2

Here is another street scene from the same morning.

Street Scene

This was taken on the way to driving my son to school one rainy January morning.

Anglers on Drift

Got this one from one of my fishing magazines.

Harbor

Boats are harder to paint than they look.

42nd St.

My first cityscape. It's of 42nd St. NY. I would like to try a few more. I may have gone too dark.

This is from the wetcanvas.com Image library. It's a lighthouse on Lake Michigan

Amish horse & buggy

From a cropped photo taken in Lancaster Co.

Currituck Inlet

This is an inlet park area we frequent in the Outer Banks, NC. We've caught crabs under the bridge.

Lone Angler

Struggled early on with the greens. The angler in the ref photo was bigger, but somehow I painted him smaller.

Young Buck

First time using phthalo blue and I like the cool greens it creates. I added the background deer in. The foreground seems a bit flat, may add more grasses in.

Backyard Sunrise

This is 9X12 from a photo of the my back yard in Nov. at about 6am. The tree is a silver maple, days away from dropping all its leaves that have since raked up.

Dog in sunlight

Here is a 9X12 of my dog laying in the sun. Colors used: Yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Titanium White.

Sun Break

Another landscape

Park Scene

Had trouble with the shadows on this. I like the composition.

Amish Farm #2

Another one from the batch of pics taken from the Strasburg Railroad trip in Lancaster, PA. I used Ultramarine Blue throughout. Along with Burnt umber and white to make the grays and Cad Yellow for the greens. Starting to feel more comfortable mixing.

Lures

I painted this from life. More fun than a photo.

Amish Farm

This is from a photo taken from the Strasburg railroad trip in Lancaster at sunset.

Couple of old Ford Pickups

Struggled a bit with the angles and dimensions of the trucks. The 3/4 view is tough. It's 8X10

Abandoned 57 Ford

I'm liking these old vehicles. More room for error. Car was done with yellow ocre and white, Foliages done with ultramarine blue and cad yellow light.

Dog with frisbee

I felt more positive with this one. I improved on getting the values correct. I used mostly Naples Yellow and Cerulean Blue to mix the greens.

57 Chevy - Acrylic on cavas panel - 9 X12

This is from a photo my friend sent me. The car is sitting next to a house in a small town in North Carolina. I may give it to him as a gift. One thing I'm trying to get comfortable with is mixing greens.

First Post

Hi, I'll be posting some acrylic painting very soon.
